Why? He could have won it, but didn't. Bit like the others he mentioned.

Tonight Messi can lift a trophy that Diego Maradona and Pelé never won in their careers: the Copa América

Interestingly Chile have been successful in recent years with Argentinian managers...Bielsa and now Sampaoli

Chile won because they didn't listen to Fat Sham

My two favourite non-West Ham goals are Iniesta winning the World Cup and Iniesta scoring at Stamford Bridge provoking Drogba to come on the pitch in his flip flops to complain about non existent poor refereeing.

colly, that's what im saying. the three of them together is what made barca so good. im not slagging anyone, just saying that the understanding between the three is what lifted that team above any other in their history

Ahead of Zidane? Behave, he's a bloody good player though

I'm not ignoring him he's my favourite midfielder ever. He's a complete genius, and is ahead of zidane in my opinion. But they wouldn't have achieved as much without Messi. They are all key players.

yet again ignoring iniesta

Xavi won 4 trophies before Messi and 28 since. Or something close to that

it's always been the movement and understanding between the three that always impressed me the most. before them my favourite trio were platini, tigana and giresse in the early to mid 80s French team. they had a similar understanding and made the game look easy

I just don't know that they get quite the kudos they deserve in the middle of the Messi wankfest.
Barca brought Rakitic in as they eased Xavi out last season and I assume Iniesta has a little bit of time left but he is getting close to the end.
Having been to the Camp Nou a couple of times he and Xavi were the players that just astonished me. Unbelievable ability when you see them live.

I've always said that it's Iniesta, Xavi & Busquets that made him tick. obviously it doesn't hurt now also having Neymar & Suarez alongside him. great player but never the greatest

Messi is a top player but it helps if the team-mates who are loading the bullets are right up there with the all time greatest...

Barca will NEVER produce another Iniesta or Xavi...they are one-offs

My theory about the lack of achievement of Argentina under Messi with all those forwards like Aguero, Tevez etc is that most football fans aren't clever enough to realise that it's really Iniesta and Xavi that make Messi look so good.
He needs them to be at his best.

Chile deserved to win...I'm pleased for them

They were a pleasure to watch in South Africa and Brazil and have a solid group for many years now...

Argentina flatter to deceive...Can't understand why they brought on Gonzalo Higuain instead of Tevez...unforgivable really

Higuain is referred to by most Argies as a "Pecho Frio" which directly translates as "Cold Chest" but probably means he lacks heart...

Found the tournament pretty boring personally and there's never been a tournament in history where I've seen so much play acting. Was like watching the WWF and I don't mean panda bears.

Happy for Chile though, as I don't mind them.

Chile were very impressive in the World Cup and think they lost on pens to Brazil.
Would definitely have given the Germans a better game!

Got some really good players.
Sanchez is one of those skilful players who works so hard. Given he played in the FA Cup final plus this tournament surely he has to miss the start of the season. Surely!
